In a Viewpoint article ACS Macroletters has allowed us to share our perspective about the future of dual organocatalysts based on ionic acid/base mixtures. With improved thermal resistance and unique dual catalytic behavior, this new class of catalysts could rapidly become a preferred choice for a large range of reactions, particularly high-temperature bulk polymerizations and depolymerizations.
